Rev. James Peel
Youth and College Minister
James Peel joined the First Christian ministry team in August of 2004. James moved to Lubbock from Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked as a youth minister for 5 years at Church of Christ South. He is a 2000 graduate of Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in Youth & Family Ministry. While at LCU, James served on the Student Senate, and traveled to Israel and Jordan on archaeological digs. While at LCU, James ministered to youth at the Brownfield Church of Christ in Brownfield, Texas.
James is a native of Lubbock graduating from Monterey High School, and attended Westmont Christian Church and Monterey Church of Christ. One of James’ biggest passions is surfing. He picked up surfing in Corpus Christi, and has since surfed in La Jolla, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, San Onofre, CA, Malibu, Ca, Maine, New Hampshire, Florida and Mexico. James also enjoys tennis, snow and water skiing, fishing and hiking.
James has been an active volunteer with Family Promise of Lubbock, President of Christian Surfers of Corpus Christi, St. Benedicts Food Kitchen, Mission 911 of Corpus Christi, All People’s Christian Church of Los Angeles, IMPACT of Houston, and Youth Hobby Shop of Nashville.
James has worked with youth, college and families for 10 years serving in ministry. His desire is to teach the Truth in love, be an example to those he teaches, and help teenagers and college students to discover their faith in Christ. He is responsible for curriculum for students, retreats, mission trips, work camps, lock-ins, leadership development among students, student worship and teaching and preaching from the Word. His favorite scripture is from John 8:32, Then you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
